Having the opportunity to go to fashion week has been a dream of mine for soooo long. So many people, especially those that work in the fashion arena are used to attending shows every season rather it be in New York, Milan, Paris,Toronto, or London. This week I will have the pleasure of being apart of the media for “World MasterCard Fashion Week” in Canada. Can you say exciting, amazing, fantastic, and every other word that you can think of that describes a happy feeling? I’m blessed and will be forever grateful for having this opportunity.

Since it’s my first time going to a fashion event of this caliber I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Although I’d being doing research prior on what to bring, ideas of what I should wear, and how I should pack etc. Speaking of packing…..absolutely NOT an easy task whatsoever. Especially on your first go around. I tried to pack everything into one bag. That wasn’t happening at all. I think at one point, my suitcase even chuckled at me saying, “You tried it”! lol Since Toronto is still freezing, I had to bring more than one coat, so that automatically took up a good amount of space. Once I arrived I was so relieved that my friend met me at the airport because how was I going to get two large suitcases, a carry-on, and my purse on a subway, and a streetcar? I have no idea.

Any who, after getting settled into our amazing condo that we rented through Air BNB (review to come), the joy of being here overtook me all over again!

Upon arriving to the tents on the first day, and seeing all of the street photographers snapping away does take some getting used too. I’m used to one camera going off at one time. At fashion week there are tons everywhere and remaining cool, and natural is the way to be in this situation. Making sure you are giving major face and having the utmost confidence will get you far. It’s like they can feel it and they totally respect it and want you in their film roll.

On the first day, I wanted to be casual chic (maybe even today too, ha!). Although being casual was what I was going for, I wanted to be colorful and stand out in the crowd at the same time. So yesterday I wore an over-sized chunky knit sweater that I scored at my local H&M last week on clearance for $15, regularly $60. A total steal, right? ( Get it HERE ) I paired the sweater with some boyfriend jeans that I purchased in a larger size because I wanted them to be a bit more baggy (I think that’s the whole point of wearing boyfriend jeans). Along with the jeans I threw on a leopard cross body bag to add a bit of print. To bring it all together I added some gold vintage statement earrings, my heathered grey Zara coat (that I scored from one of their sales), and my two favorite pieces, my hot pink leather gloves and my coral ankle strap pumps.

What do you think of the overall look? Is this something that you would wear?

Stay tuned for more “Style Diaries” this week!
